Who is Jesus: Who gets to answer this question in our day?

This is the first time I've used this site to solicit sermon insights. Yours are welcomed!

I'm working on a sermon for this weekend. Nicodemus comes to Jesus observing that Jesus must be from God, for no one could do the stuff Jesus is doing if God weren't with him.

I'm thinking of the many ways that people come to explore the person of Jesus today. How would they begin their exploration? To whom would they turn?

I'm also wondering about the responses people get to their questions about Jesus.

Any comments?

The Pharisees were an exclusive men's club, about 6000 in number at the time of Jesus. They devoted their lives to obeying the law of God in every conceivable arena of living. But evidently, something was still a bit unsettled in Nicodemus's life, so much so, that he decided to pay Jesus a visit. The problem was that Nicodemus was a VIP, and he had a certain reputation to protect, so he visited Jesus under the camouflage of nightfall; better to be safe than sorry!
Like Nicodemus, I wonder how many people who are not VIP's look for Jesus in camouflage of something or someone else? I even wonder if people at first realize at all what they are looking for...yet when they find it...they seem to know. I am not sure people know where to look for authentic love, grace, mercy, and compassion. These things are sadly so rare....

Great thoughts and observations Amber! I join your sadness over people not knowing where to look for authentic love, grace, mercy and compassion...
